Frodsham Goods Shed

Frodsham StationFrodsham Goods Shed has now been purchased and is run as a storage facility by Platform 3.
Frodsham Goods Shed was owned by CWaC and was under threat of demolition as part of the June/July 2019 car park redevelopment.

"Opened in 1890, Frodsham Station’s Goods Yard had a goods shed constructed of red brick with eight lines of railway track.
1890 saw construction of the Frodsham Station’s Goods Yard for owners the London, North Western Railway (LNWR), and the Great Western Railway (GWR), as a joint venture, who bought the railway line, Frodsham Station and its goods yard in 1860 from the Birkenhead, Lancashire & Cheshire Junction Railway (BL&CJR).
1890 until 1940 saw the goods yard shed originally store cattle, potatoes, cheese and agricultural products.
1940 until 1980 saw the goods yard shed used for engineering maintenance of British Rail trains.
1948 saw British Rail take ownership of Frodsham Station’s Goods Yard following nationalisation of the railway.
1989 following de-nationalisation of the railway, British Rail handed ownership of Frodsham Station’s Railway Goods Yard and shed to Network Rail.
1999 saw Network Rail sell the goods shed to Frodsham Town Council who used the shed as a depot for road sweepers.
2006 saw Frodsham Town Council close Frodsham Station’s Railway Goods Shed and re-open the land as a public car park."

A stay of demolition was put in place resulting from a recent business proposal.

As of September 2019 the threat of demolition has been withdrawn.
